Soho is an urban infill apartment development in the heart of Tampa, Florida. Dix.Lathrop’s challenge was to integrate the new architectural infrastructure within the existing streetscape. Entry stoops, canopies, signage, decorative paving, and street trees were utilized to create a funky, yet harmonious meld between the eclectic residental architecture and the previously industrial character of the site . The project encompasses two city blocks, with the units enclosing two large courtyard spaces. In one, the designers played up the urban streetscape inspiration, designing a pool space that features a taxicab planter and an elegant linear pool set in the “street”.
