The design team’s challenge was to create a highly functional fire station that could stand on its own as an architectural icon. Playful elements such as a fire hat, fire hydrant, and fire hose were incorporated into the building’s façade. The fire hose ends in a simple, elegant fountain that is incorporated into the landscape. Bedlines follow the clean lines of the architecture, framing it, while also providing bold, simple patterns reflective of the project’s theme. A mixture of hardy natives, ornamental shrubs, and grasses were chosen for their rich textures and simplicity.
