Canopy is a student-focused apartment housing development located near the University of Florida campus. Sited on a former mobile home tract, the site contains many mature trees including long leaf pine, sweet gum, cedar, and heritage-size Live Oaks. Preserving the existing landscape was a key goal and great effort was taken to site plan the utilities, buildings, roads, parking, and amenities in conjunction with existing landscape. A native and low water-use planting design was then created to enhance the existing character of the site, reduce the amount of sod and irrigation required, and create a more sustainable, low maintenance project over time.
